Italy's leading poet Leopardi was born here. It's a perfect example of a fortified hilltop Marche town, owned by the Vatican for centuries, charming narrow cobbled streets, eight historic Palazzi, an imposing central Piazza with cafes and elegant and interesting shops.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Sunday Antique market (monthly) is a perfect place to find those unusual artifacts from antique accordians to 2nd world war memorabilia.

 

Our hostess, indomitable Anna Maria Biondo dalla Casapiccola is responsible for the restoration of this beautiful Palazzo. An ex ambassador's wife, Anna's family have owned the Palazzo dalla Casapiccola for many generations.

The cookery school is housed in what was once the stable block, inside the historic walls of Recanati, a serene hidaway with great traditions and a temple to the food traditions of the Marche.
